Curtain raise on Mr. World Wide
Today it’s showtime for Mohammed Sosai or as he is known in the hip hop scene: Mr. World Wide! The polite, humble rapper from Sierra Leone (West-Africa) with a never-ending smile on his face.
At the tender age of 16 he came to the Netherlands in 2018, started to learn Dutch and finished high school. Now he is waiting to get his documents so he can continue his education at ROC (regional education center, comparable with a college).
In the meantime, besides following Dutch classes to further improve his language skills, he is working on his career in the Nederhop scene. And it’s going well so far: recently, he performed on stage at a Talenthunt organized by HVO Querido resulting in a tumultuous applause and a bigger fanbase.
Spending time at the Wereldhuis (Worldhouse) is Mr. World Wide’s way to ‘travel’ our globe. Over here, he meets fellow Amsterdammers from all over the world, who are in the same situation as he is. Having some good talks, exchanging experiences and life stories fuel him with new ideas for his songs. Rapping on, worries off – at least for a few hours.
