About the activity
This winter, along the Schelpenpad in Diemen-Zuid, we are planting the ‘Hedge of Honour for Life in Diemen’: a large, biodiverse hedge comprising 800 native trees and shrubs, symbolising 800 years of Diemen.
With the ‘Erehaag’, we are giving Diemen a lasting green gift. The flowers, berries and seeds will soon provide a feast for bees, butterflies, birds, insects and small mammals. At the same time, a beautiful green space will be created where people can walk and enjoy nature.
It’s a special and sustainable end-of-year activity: spending a morning or afternoon working outdoors together, making a tangible contribution to biodiversity and sustainability, and celebrating the 800th anniversary of your own municipality.
