Reverse Advent Calendar 2026: the joy of giving
Would you like to do something beautiful for someone else this Christmas? You can!
We’re bringing back our Reverse Advent Calendar. Together, we fill personal Christmas boxes for undocumented people in Amsterdam, with practical items, small gifts and an encouraging message. Join as a company, a street, a school class or simply as yourself, and bring warmth and hope to someone who really needs it.
How it works
Normally, you take something out of your advent calendar every day. Now, you put something in. Add an item to your box throughout December, and by Christmas you’ll have a box full of surprises, ready to give.
Your box holds 20 essentials for a festive Christmas dinner and costs about €35.
How to join
- Sign up via the registration form
- Arrange a large box.
- Fill the box with the items on the list
- Drop it off at one of Serve the City’s collection points
We make sure your box reaches someone in Amsterdam who could use a helping hand. For you it’s a small gesture, but for the recipient it can make a big difference.

This is how the ‘Reversed Advent Calendar’ works
In a normal advent calendar, you take something out each day. With the Reverse Advent Calendar, it’s the other way around: starting on November 28, you add a small gift, a practical item or a treat to a box every day. By December 17, you’ll have filled a box with 20 essentials for a festive Christmas dinner. The total cost is about €35 per box.
Share your box with someone who needs it
Drop off your finished box at one of Serve the City’s three locations (see below) and we’ll make sure it reaches people in Amsterdam who could use some extra support and warmth over the holidays. That way, your countdown to Christmas becomes meaningful not only for you, but for someone else too.
Want to join as a company?
Would your team like to fill a larger number of boxes? Let us know in the form or send an email to info@stcamsterdam.nl. We also organise tailor-made projects for companies, where your team can take part in a (Christmas) activity together. Want to know more? Visit our special page for companies.
Make a financial donation
Do you love this initiative, but is your schedule already full? No problem. Donate whatever amount you can spare, and we’ll fill a beautiful box on your behalf.
