About the activity
A vulnerable 72-year-old Amsterdam resident has been through a very difficult time. He lost his home, along with all of his belongings. Fortunately, he has now been given a new ground-floor apartment in Amsterdam East (Betondorp) and has managed to furnish it with a few basic essentials. His support worker has already arranged the underlay, now all he needs is someone to help install it. With your help, you can turn his empty apartment into a real home again. đź’Ş
The apartment is a one-bedroom apartment with a small hallway and kitchen (approximately 38 m² in total). The job includes: Moving a sofa, computer desk and mattress, removing the skirting boards, installing the 7 mm green underlay and taping the seams with aluminium tape.
Practical info:
- We’re aiming for 2 volunteers, but you’re also welcome to sign up solo – we’ll find someone to join you
- All materials are provided floor and aluminum tape)
- Times are flexible (in consultation with the supervisor)
- The client does not have any tools, so please bring the following yourself:
- Stanleymes met scherpe reservemesjes
- Rolmaat
- Lange metalen liniaal of rei (om recht te snijden)
- Potlood of stift
- Kniebeschermers (aanrader)
- Schaar (voor kleine uitsparingen)

Do I need to physically be in the Netherlands to be able to join in?
Yes! Only people who are physically present in the Netherlands are able to volunteer with us and can sign up. Unfortunately, we can offer no assistance with obtaining visas to come to the country.
