The activity: Weekly walk with the elderly

De Kastanjehof is a small residential care center in Amsterdam’s Oosterpark neighborhood. De Kastanjehof is an exceptional home for two reasons: it has “De Salon,” a day care project where social and cultural activities are offered every day for people of all cultures and nationalities. The other reason that makes the Kastanjehof unique is that it also houses elderly people with intellectual disabilities.

Every Tuesday, they host a heartwarming weekly stroll for and with the elderly, spreading joy and companionship. The volunteers’ presence never fails to bring smiles, as they eagerly venture outdoors together. If the weather is not great, there’s always a nice indoor activity planned to keep spirits high among our cherished elders.

Do I need to live in the Netherlands to be able to join?
Yes! Only people who live in the Netherlands are able to volunteer with us and can sign up. Unfortunately we can’t help people with a visa.

Is this a suitable project for me?
